Nathalie is a deep breather, movement maker (RYT 200), and an advocate for living life off the beaten path. Deeply inspired by the natural world, she found her yoga roots on a remote corner of Lantau Island, Hong Kong - and has since been on a journey to guide others back to their heart centered nature, through nature.
Belgian born, Nathalie has never been one to stay in one place. She has traveled extensively through the US with her family, moved to the UK for study, and worked at an international school in China. It was here that she began to crave deeper meaning in her work. Torn by the environmental challenges she witnessed throughout her travels in Southeast Asia, she started a Masters degree in Sustainable Development and moved to an organic farm on Lantau Island to experience living closer to nature.
Her path as a student of yoga began here, where she worked in environmental and outdoor education. As her personal practice grew alongside jungle landscapes, ocean waves and mountaintops, she soon realized the deeper transformational power of yoga in nature. As we spend more time embodying these shapes of the wild, we learn to fall in love again with the awe-inspiring world all around us.
This concept of yoga as a tool for discovering ourselves, for inspiring connection and strengthening our relationship with the land is the basis of her practice and teaching. She was soon incorporating pranayama and asana practices in her workshops, and continued teaching informally when she moved back to the UK to work for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The calling to teach and move out of the city grew, and soon enough she made the leap to the mountains of North Carolina to undertake her 200hr yoga teacher training at Asheville Yoga Center. Nathalie founded Inner Wild Yoga in the summer of 2016, with the desire to share her love and connection of the natural world with others. She believes that when we spend more time outdoors, the more we are able to listen to the wild places inside of ourselves. Nathalie leads workshops and retreats with Inner Wild Yoga, and teaches weekly classes at Asheville Yoga Center and Happy Body.
